Biting Cold - Chloe Neill Biting Cold takes place right after Drink Deep. Mallory is on the run after a magical book called the Maleficium. Of course Ethan and Merit are attempting to capture her and prevent her from releasing evil into the world. On their way they are stumped by Seth Tate and it all kind of goes downhill from there.

The good points of the book are we get to meet new supernatural characters and we get some resolution for Cadogn House and the GP.I also liked the story of Tate and thought that was an interesting turn of events

The downside of the book is we get more of the same between Ethan and Merit. Then there is Mallory. Honestly I have always thought of her as a useless character and her need to rid the world of evil balance evil whatever just seemed silly. The fact that this same issue has carried over for three books and now people are just starting to think oh why did we not see it is well silly. In addition Ethan is dead and he knew it, he comes back from the dead one would think he would appreciate the one he loves with the time they have. One would but not Ethan again we go through the we need to put this relationship on hold.

Overall they plot line was a little boring and character wise it felt like more of the same. This book has way to much filler and things that are not all that relevant for example do I need to know every meal that Merit consumed? There was also a lot of repetition for things that just happened; for example Merit leans new information that happens on screen then I get to watch her rehash it while debriefing someone else. I am also finding it interesting that Merit has become the supernatural police, I mean she should be concerned with her house not ever supernatural event in Chicago. I will say the book picks up around the last 100 pages of the book but it is boring in the beginning.
