We all have different hobbies in life but my absolute favorite thing to do is pick up a book. This blog is dedicated to all of my ramblings.
Hauk is an ex-Army ranger who was dishonorable discharged and has turned into a radical activist for the Underlight movement. He was terribly scarred during a mission where he suffered extensive burns and the partial loss of a leg, and now he has learned to live in the shadows. One night during a mission for the Underlight movement he has a bit of a close call and is forced to hide out in a burlesque club. Nervous about being seen and scrutinized he is hiding in the shadows until he see the beautiful Jolie on stage.
Jolie is actually living life on her own terms, she used to be a classical ballet dancer but now she is pleased dancing burlesque and working on her PhD. The night Hauk comes into the club it is going really well and she never notices him while she is dancing but shortly after Hauk and Jolie have a brief encounter where Hauk is hiding in shadows leaving Jolie wondering who the mystery man is. BUT before she can ponder that thought she is nearly kidnapped from the club. Hauk gets a sixth sense that something is up and rescues her but in the process he blacks out and remembers nothing. The next morning Hauk is horrified about his cave man behavior and Jolie comes face to face with her rescuer with burn scars but what neither of them know at the time is their loves are about to drastically change.
This book is stellar…the characters and dialog is awesome, the action and pacing kept me glued to the story. I love beauty and the beast stories and this one so does not disappoint. It is a short story but so well done it was really satisfying. There are a few things left unfinished but I assume that is intentional as it is a trilogy. So now it is time for me to buy the next one.
