Review for How Beauty Saved The Beast

How Beauty Saved the Beast - Jax Garren

How Beauty Saved the Beast is the second book in the Tales of the Underlight Trilogy. It takes place a few weeks after How Beauty Met the Beast. Time has not really moved the relationship on between Jolie and Hauk despite their growing attraction for one another. What has changed is Jolie is now training to be an agent for the Underlight and of course Hauk is training her.  While these two are figuring out what to do about each other – they now both have to deal with the ex relationship. Paul is back for Jolie and Hauk has his ex swimming around from before the incident…so will this draw them closer together or pull them further apart?? Meanwhile the Ananke has placed Hauk in their sights and he is not sure why so much effort is being expended on him.

This installment was I think maybe better than the first which says a lot. Part of what I liked is watching the relationship change and grow between Hauk and Jolie it is funny to see how they each handle jealousy. In the end it was nice to see those issues being addressed in a rather realistic fashion. Meanwhile there is a good twist at the end about Hauk and why he is the way he is – I recall thinking that was a possibility but it was interesting the way it comes together.

My only challenge with this book is I wanted to get a little more information about the Underlight or even the actions of the Ananke. However this is a novella and so it is not major because the book was really well paced. While there is no cliffhanger at the end my hand is itching to read the next one.
