Review for By A Thread

By a Thread - Jennifer Estep

Gin our favorite assassin is still reeling from her battle with Mab. At Finn’s insistence she decides to take a vacation, where she is hoping to figure out what is going on with the relationship between her and her baby sister,  Bria. Sadly Gin does not get a break this time she walks into yet another situation where her skills are needed.

The book is probably one of the best books in the series. First and foremost we did not get the same long a$$ recaps that are normally present so that in of itself was awesome. The second best thing is the emotional changes in Gin, finally after so long she is accepting and embracing her role as assassin without fear of loosing people. I really liked the flash back scenes with Fletcher …well done there.  I am also enjoying her relationship with Owen.

As to why I knocked off a star. The first is while Gin might be an assassin she certainly loves to tell the entire world and this time she is super sloppy. I guess I need to accept that Gin really is not the assassin she thinks she is, I keep wanting her to be clever and cold…heck I want her to use her magic instead of running at everyone…I mean even Bria knows to use her magic wisely…Gin not so much. I mean her plans just suck, why on earth would you run into a home where you were beaten just 24 hours before hand if you know he is leaving to commit arson?? Why not set up a trap? Oh I don’t know I guess that makes to much sense. Or I killed a few guys so I am going to dump them in a pool and use the luggage cart for transport (rolling my eyes) For me this is frustrating!! My other issue in the book is Finn and Bria why the matching dating set?? Can’t Gin find love on her own? Then why is Owen always with Finn? I like Finn but Bria not so much so their relationship really annoys me. I liked him better when he dated lots of women.
