Magic Rises - Ilona Andrews It took me awhile to get started on this book...not because of the book but my crazy work schedule...anyway last night I had a mental breakdown and needed a story and WOW did I get one. Stayed up until 3am to finish it.

About the story, one of Julie's friends has gone loup and Kate is fearful of what could happen if she had kids as well as the fate of the others. Curran on the other hand is sick of it and so he makes a deal to basically walk into a trap with the European packs. While Kate and Curran feel prepared to battle all things external things are much worse than they ever thought.

My favorite things about this book is that we revisit both Kate and Currans history without really realizing it. For example we find out more about how different Curran is as an alpha...we thought mate meant marriage well not so much..we can also see what Kate could have been if Voron had lived. This takes me to Hugh ah what an a$$ but I liked him. He is like the perfect villain, you know he is up to no good but it is hard to figure out exactly how much trouble he is causing. I also like that is a bit pompous and suave yet a total twit. I do hope we see more of him in the future. I also loved that Derek is back, I missed Kate's teenage side kick.

The book is a bit of an emotional roller coaster people get hurt, people die there is jealousy and fear which makes it a lot like life. It is interesting to watch Kate grow and I think I like how one minute she is a stone cold killer but in the next she is moral and rational. For me it feels believable that she is trying to find her place in a world of friends and comrades when she expected to always be alone.

Great book worth every penny and now the wait begins for the next one sigh.
