I have started and stopped this book several times I think because I was rather confused and had better things to read. This time though I pushed through the confusion and enjoyed a great story about the second generation in the league.
To prevent confusion in other readers allow me to refresh your memory Syn and Shahara ([b:Born of Fire|3246224|Born of Fire (The League, #2)|Sherrilyn Kenyon|http://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1327886842s/3246224.jpg|3280979]) are the married parents of Devyn (the heroe in the story)...Syn also has another son Padon from a previous relationship. Nykyrian and Kiara ([b:Born of Night|476692|Born of Night (The League, #1)|Sherrilyn Kenyon|http://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1175089078s/476692.jpg|1329454]) got married and had Thia, Jayce, Adron, Tiernan, Taryn and Zarina.
Devyn has had a great childhood full of love and peace. He marries the wrong woman and has a tough time with that but for the most part he is whole and happy! Alix on the other hand has been sexually and emotionally abused most of her life. Now she has been tasked to betray Devyn or loose her sister and mother to slavery.
The story is very sweet and quite different from the other two. This one is much more like a typical romance book where the first few had romance in it. While the theme is totally cheesy SK pulls it off with out a hitch. I absolutely loved it!! Devyn is a good man and while he has some challenges he is a great hero and Alix I think is my favorite heroine in the series. She has such low self esteem which makes sense yet she is strong and wants to be better.
