Frost Burned - Patricia Briggs Mercy is back in the Tri-Cities. Jessie and Mercy go out to do some Black Friday sales when she gets into a car accident while she is looking around for a ride Mercy finds out the pack is missing.
Mercy has to think quick so she can figure out what has happened and if she is a target too.

This was a really great story and one that I personally enjoyed far more than the last one. It was great to see Stefan becoming more of his old self and who does not love Ben. Plus we get to see Zee, Tad and Sonya who is a woot, I hope we get to see her in future books. It was also surreal not to have an Bran and well that just sucked. However we did get Asil which was cool because you always hear he is scary but in this book you get a feel for just how so which I thought was done well. Through Asil we also get to see why Bran is so fond or Mercy. While we have quite the reunion everything is not rosy Mercy still has enemies and some within the pack still don’t care for her.
At the beginning of the book I thought oh Mercy has to save the pack um haven’t we done this before? And one the one hand yes but this book is completely different. I liked seeing Adam’s POV and that was helpful because honestly I never really felt the appeal but after this book I think they are in fact well suited to each other. Especially as we see their bond as well as the bond to the rest of the pack through the assault and choices both Adam and Mercy make. Briggs does a great job weaved threads from previous books into this one and while there is a lot I had forgotten she does a great job bringing it all together and very subtle reminders.

Personally there is something missing in this book and while I thought it was awesome and much better than River Marked still something felt off. The first issue was in the plot itself the initial threat made total sense but it felt like a reach as Briggs connected it to the second threat. It also felt off because there is no Bran nor Samuel and that is just weird. Perhaps I wanted more details around the second threat at this point I am still not sure.

At any rate the book was great and an enjoyable read. I wonder what will happen next.
