Zarabeth of Nvengaria has decided to divorce her abusive husband Sebastian with the help of her cousin Damien who is the Imperial Prince of Nvengaria. But Sebastian is not so keen on letting go of Zarabeth and Damien has intervened to keep Zarabeth safe sends her to Scotland where a family friend Egan MacDonald can both hide her and keep her safe. Zarabeth has loved Egan since she was a little girl and Egan has loved her for just as long but he has never felt worthy. Now the two of them must figure out how to deal with the past so they can move on in the future.
I liked this story it is cute. But it is different from the first two in this series where those had a lot of humor and I thought were suspenseful. This one not so much. In fairness I think part of it was the set up, in the previous two books we knew that Egan loved Zarabeth and he had these sexual escapades and drink hoping to forget her but in the book it seems like on Zarabeth loves him. I think the other issue was it never felt like Zarabeth was in danger and when we do finally get to the danger it just felt blah.
If you have never read the other two books in the series [b:Penelope & Prince Charming|545906|Penelope & Prince Charming (Nvengaria #1)|Jennifer Ashley|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1348447267s/545906.jpg|533179] and [b:The Mad, Bad Duke|768525|The Mad, Bad Duke (Nvengaria, #2)|Jennifer Ashley|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1348451348s/768525.jpg|754587] you can read this on as a stand alone.
