What a fantastic story!!
I really liked Lady Johanna when we first meet her she is a determined woman but the years of spousal abuse has taken its toll. Judith Garwood did a fantastic job portraying the realities of domestic abuse but she tempered it will with the growing affection between Lady Johanna and Laird MacBain (Gabriel). It was also interesting that MacBain was illegitimate and therefor stigmatized in his own upbringing. It made their relationship far more believable because he grew up always wanting his own family now he has one to protect and love.
The other part of this story that I loved was the time period, it is a little after we get the stories about Robin Hood. At any rate if you liked Robin Hood then you will remember when John tries to over throw King Richard the Lionheart. It was also interesting how Garwood kept bring up Arthur because John really did kill him.
At any rate it was a great story!
