Harbinger of Books

The Goblin King is a story about an innocent man who was cursed be a goblin and to love gold above everything else. However Roan has managed to retain part of his humanity and as such has not fully given up on hope to be free of the curse. Eliza had come face to face with the Goblin King as a teenager and was enthralled by him. Eliza has had a hard life emotionally and does not know quite where she fits in. On the one hand she wants to escape to the shadow realm to avoid her own life and her terrible fiancée but on the other she wants to remain human. Together they start to find what actually matters.

This book is good but slow. I wanted things to move faster and in some parts they did but other parts just seemed to drag. I took off a star because I never really felt the passion between Roan and Elza, I wanted to but it just felt blah, like one minute he is all I am a Goblin I can love nothing but gold and she is all like I want to escape Steve (the fiancée) then later it is I want to love her but I cannot and she is I already love him...meanwhile I am like really why do you love him?? You never talk to him he is a goblin trying to save himself. Even though I am ranting I still was rooting for them and I really wanted things to get better between them. I really did like the premise and the world building.

I would suggest that you read The Summons: A Goblin King Prequelthe prequel to this story first.
