In Bed with a Highlander - Maya Banks Mairin has been hidden away in an Abbey for most of her life, because she is an heiress with a large dowry and a lot of land. Then Lord Cameron kidnaps Mairin so he can marry her and take control of her money and her lands. In between the Abby and Lord Cameron’s land, they band of thieves stumble across a small boy, Crispen, who is bravely trying to steal a horse to get home. Mairin rescues the boy and become his protector. Once they arrive on Lord Camerons lands he attempts to marry Mairin but Mairin refuses and is beaten severely. Despite the beating Mairin and Crispin escape but are soon found by Crispens family. Where she first lays on Ewan McCabe. Ewan has been worried about his son who has been missing for about a week and when he first sees Mairin he sees trouble, initially she will not tell him who she is. Then when he finds out he realizes this is the ticket to bring his clan back to prosperity the one thing he did not expect was to fall in love.

The book is cute. For the most part I liked Mairin even though at times she was TSTL and also very confused but she had spirit and wanted to fit in. Ewan was a decent hero, I thought it was cute how he would try and hide his feelings for his wife yet everyone knows how he feels about her. I also liked Crispin he was a cute kid. It was also VERY nice that no one had a tortured past.
Having said that the book did not really feel like a Scottish romance, it really is just a love story. I also did not get how or why no one was looking for Mairin even though she is the bastard child she has a lot of money and land which could tip the power of Scotland it seems to me like she would have been with the King sooner. The writing I think was good and there are some steamy scenes but there was something missing. There is some action but you saw it coming so it was not very exciting. I do want to read the next books about the brothers they seem very interesting.
