Lord of the Abyss is the last story in the house of shadows series. This one is based on the fairy tale of beauty and the beast. However this time we have a twist he is a beauty and she is the beast.
Micah is your alpha hero who really does not speak a lot and is a bit oblivious. In part he is not at fault because as Lord of the Abyss he has never really been around people including women. For me it worked that he was actually innocent yet at times very blunt.
Liliana, our heroine, was complicated but in a good way. She is the Blood Sorcerer's daughter and while she has a huge heart she is often down on herself because of the torture her father put her through. At times it was weird for me because she would react in a way that I did not expect, like I wanted her to not feel so pitiful. Anyway it worked it was just off.
Lord of the Abyss was cute, it was not great or earth shattering just a cute story. My issue with the book is there were some parts that just dragged on and then the end was really anticlimactic I was looking for more action with the end of the Blood Sorcerer.
Really it should be 3.5 stars
