Notorious Pleasures - Elizabeth Hoyt Lady Hero is a prim woman who is engaged to the Marquess. Lady Hero seems to have a thing for doing what is proper and this man is quite proper, he has a title, he has money, they do not love each other but apparently this is a good match. Lady Hero is doing what she does best keeping on her public face when one night at a party she meets Griffin or Lord Reading who is actively engaging in relations with a married woman. At which times Griffin begins to unabashedly flirts with Hero, pushing her a way. Then comes the surprise since Lord Reading is the Marquee's brother, the same man who Lady Hero is engaged to. Right away there is an attraction because Lady Hero calls him Lord Shameless and Lord Reading believes Hero is too serious naming her Lady Perfect.

The book is a fun read, of course the plot is pretty predictable however I found parts to be quite funny and while I did not consider it very romantic it was steamy. In many ways I sympathized with Lady Hero mostly because she is a 24 year old daughter of the Duke who lives her life as she is told, her feelings or desires are mostly irrelevant. I really liked Griffin the most. He comes off as this selfish rake but really he loves his family and trying to do right by them even if he is an outlaw.

As for issues with the book, I realize this is the second in the series so clearly I missed something and there seemed to be side stories that I assume relate to the first book or perhaps are creating the story line for the third. While I liked Griffin I also had some issues like if he is so smart to find a creative way to get his family out of their financial mess why would he be willing to continue this illegal venture knowing it could destroy all he created? My other issue is why would a sheltered virginal woman be so willing to engage in a sexual affair then when asked to marry she shrinks away screaming honor and duty?

Over all it was a cute read.
