The story begins with Winter agreeing to become a hybrid in order to avenge her husbands death, he was killed by demons. A hybrid is a human who accepts a demon soul, the body and soul merge together making humans faster, stronger, and a host of supernatural powers to boot. The problem is eventually the demon's instincts will take over and the hybrid will have to be destroyed OR they can find a mate to bond with and live happily ever after :-)
Sixty years later Winter is fighting a loosing battle. She is too impulsive and her demon is close to taking over. One day she takes on a careless fight and meets a handsome man, Marcus who just happens to be Lord of the Nightwalkers. Confused well you have to read the book (***grins**)!
The story itself was quite good. LH did a great writing this one in third person. It is also nice to have some really good mini sub-plots that are weaved in to the main story line. Normally I find this kind of thing distracting but my friends I think we have a good writer on our hands because I want to read more about the supporting cast. As far as the sexual tension that was great but if you are looking for pure romance this is not it more like we know we are mated yet one side is struggling with that, again I thought the whole claiming thing was well done with good pacing.
The downside is if you are into action scenes like I am this book leaves something to be desired they are just to brief. The other downside is the book is only available on kindle or audible.com.
At the end of the day it was a great read I enjoyed it very much. I cannot wait for the next book because while the end does not have a cliff hanger you are stuck with hey what about this and what happened with that.
