I saw this book in B&N and after flipping through I decided to pick it up. I was not disappointed.
Miranda is a psychic/empath who can manipulate people feeling through music and feels other people emotions. As such she is emotionally bombarded, lives like a recluse and drinks for comfort...in short she is loosing her mind.
David is a Prime or King of the vampires in the south. He is a very powerful vampire who is also a computer hardware engineer. Meanwhile there is a coming war in his territory.
Their paths cross initially in a grocery store and again later after Miranda is assaulted.
I really liked watching Miranda come into herself, she needs time to grow after her assault and to come to grips with her fears and learning to control her gift. Meanwhile David is caring and supportive and does not press the issue. He still has needs and he gets them met discreetly. The romance is slow they are both afraid to admit their feelings and there is a lot of concern about consequences.
My only pet peeve is the star trek reference with terms like com and elite-... that and I wanted a little more at the end.
However as you can see these are really minor. It is a good face paced story and I am looking forward to the next book!
