Born of the Night - Sherrilyn Kenyon Born of Night is the first book by Sherrilyn Kenyon and it is cool to watch her characters grow into the dark hunters. Nykyrian is a tortured hero who wears glasses and was grossly abused coming up...remind you of anyone??

That aside this story is about a killer mercenary, Nemesis/Nykyrian who juts happens to have a thing for a very small petite dancer named Kiara. He has to protect her, they hate each other, then they fall in love. Personally I think the story is great, totally follows the SK romance theme of dark hero who has an extremely dark past, who walks the line between being evil and good and does not trust easily.

This book is totally PNR and while it has it faults like being very unbelievable with a few inconsistencies, SK sucks you in and I for one am happy to let these minor issues go. The reason why I gave this book a 4 instead of a 5 was because a few things were just to over the top. Nykyrian has such a horrific past with absolutely nothing good: he was beaten, starved, raped, torture and continuously emotionally abused…yet he was a good person, cares for stray children and let criminals live?? Then we have a total opposite Kiara who has had only one bad event and she is still way to pure and naive, she gets kidnapped and almost raped, again and again and Nykyrian saves the day every time. I think I would have preferred a little balance in each of their worlds, but then you would not have the drama of PNR. Regardless I loved Syn, cannot wait to read his book and I hope to see more of Nykyrian.
