First I will say that Iron Hunt was interesting, different and original. We have a women where demons peel off her skin at night and hang on her like tattoos during the day.
The reason for three stars is that I was confused throughout the first half of the book. I expect the first book in a series to have a lot of back story because we are being introduced to a new world. Having said that for more than half of this book Maxine learns there are all of these secrets and that perhaps what she learned that her past beliefs are wrong/incomplete. But the problem for me is I am not clear on her past as such for more than half the book I am like what is she again and why does everyone else understand her mystery surrounding her history everyone but Maxine and the reader.
Outside of this confusion the book was interesting and now that I think I have a handle on things I would read the next installation. A word to the wise read the prequel in an anthology (sorry I don't know the name) before reading this book I think it may help with the confusion factor.
