Harbinger of Books

Rhys is a warrior against the Roman army in Whales but he is taken prisoner. In an escape attempt from the Romans he is captured by the fae and he is forced to serve out two millennium as the grimm in doggie form. Meanwhile Morgan a vet has taken a long desired trip to Whales and comes face to face with the black dog. I think we can guess what happens from here.

What I liked about it was its originality. I half expected this to be a shifter story but it really was not. He is a dog who becomes a man period. I also liked that Rhys needed to adjust to modern day life. Morgan while a little dense at times was a decent heroine. I also enjoyed the side characters especially Leo.

IMO the book starts out well paced but the middle feels drawn out like the author was not sure quite where to go so we get a bit of useless (to the plot I mean) information. Another challenge is there is not a lot of romance - albeit some passion but the romance is just bleh.

Still though decent read and the concept is very interesting especially if you like th efae.
