Rogue Vampire by Lynsay Sands - A bit of a departure

The Rogue Hunter - Lynsay Sands

A rogue vampire has been biting one to many people. Lucian has decided to send his enforcers Mortimer and Bricker off to Canada to get to the bottom of whatever is happening. Arrangements are made for them to stay with another enforcer Decker who owns a cabin in the woods. Meanwhile in the cabin right next door is the family home of three sisters, who are in residence for their annual vacation. Jo and Alex want their sister Sam (the workaholic sister) to kick back, relax and get a social life because Sam has just gone through a breaking up with her high school sweetheart who was a bit of a jerk.  Right away Mortimer understand he has found his  life mate but she is not quite what he expected...at the same time wooing Sam is no easy feat as she is not really ready.

This book takes quite the departure from other stories in the series and for me that was not the best choice. In short I miss the Argeneau’s! This to me is what makes these stories humorous..frankly this one was not funny at all. In fact Mortimer was like a stick in the mud. Then the plot was weak so there were some connections I never quite made like what happened to the lady in the beginning? What was the point of Cathy?? Then to top it off there was almost no action – of any kind!

Now the story was not all bad. I did like watching Mortimer try to juggle the truth vs. the lie with Sam. I did like Sam, I thought she was a good heroine. I also thought the near sex scenes were cute.  The beginning moves a bit slow and overall the story is not bad – it just falls a bit flat from other stories in the series.
