Review for Wolf's Haven

Wolf's Haven - Ambrielle Kirk

Wolf's Haven is a novella that is currently free on amazon.

Tamara has been in an abusive relationship and has decided to make a break for it. On the night of her escape things have gone poorly but lucky for her she meets Devin who is willing to hide her and help her. Then they find love.

The story suffers from a lack of character development.  The set up was done nicely but we don't really see any reason for the transformation. For example why would a woman who has been in an abusive relationship fall in love with a virtual stranger in five days? Why was Devin drawn to Tamara? Outside of the fact she is beautiful and kind. Honestly I think the book was just to short. I think if it was a full length novel these ideas would have been flushed out.

Oh and there are editing issues. A few misused words. One minute the shifter changes to being a man and he is fully clothed but another time he shows up naked...so which is it? There were also some incomplete plot threads for example a sister who is 9 and a brother who is 17 yet no one seems to have custody of them? That works in the beginning but it seemed like they would become Devin's responsibility but at the end I am not even sure what happened to them.

Loved the idea of the story and I hope the author goes back and turns it into a novel.
